Leagues
With the season now under way the club are intending to hold junior leagues after last year’s success. They will commence on Monday the 7th of May and will stop for the summer holidays on Sunday the 24th of June. They will then continue after the holidays again.
To enter the leagues players must understand how to score. If you are not aware of how to score but want to take part in the leagues, however, then speak to me on our first club night (Tuesday 1st of May)
You will be put into a league with players of about the same playing experience, which will hopefully promote fun and competitive matches! It will be up to yourself to arrange to play your weekly scheduled match with your opponent.
The format of the leagues will be the best of 3 sets. You will be awarded league points for the following:
every game won= 1 point
every set won = 1 points
every match won= 1 points
This means even if you lose your match, you can still be collecting points for your league position depending on how many games and sets you win. So its all to play for! These points will then be totalled up and will dictate your ladder position.
This is available to all junior members and is a great way to meet fellow club players and build tennis skills.
If you are interested in the leagues then please put your name up on the notice board in the pavilion by Thursday the 3rd of May.
If you have any hesitation over whether the courts are open before going to play your matches, then please phone Strathaven Park on 01357 521 995.
